Learning To Love

My 36 year-old Singapore Airlines hostess is a worldly and educated woman. Coming from a country such as Singapore, with its ménage of cultures both Eastern and Western, she has already been gifted a rare insight into broad kaleidoscope that is human culture. However, being born into a cultural hot-pot is not merely enough for her, she recognises that the world is a veritable smörgåsbord of intrigue and that there is no more prudent way of understanding it than to experience it first hand. That is why being a flight attendant is the perfect job for her. Her inquisitive nature and voracious appetite for knowledge is what motivates her. The opportunity to not just spend time in a range of locales across the globe, but to also meet and engage with peoples from a variety of cultures on her flights is, to her, reward in itself.

As a 36 year old she is one of the more experienced flight attendants on Singapore Airlines' staff. She's worked on all of the airline's 65 destinations. From Cairo to Tokyo, Mumbai to Moscow, she's become well versed in a myriad of diverse cultures. She's a sophisticated lady with style and panache, a woman who expects a certain educational standard from her man.

That is why I'm making a concentrated effort to educate myself. I want her to know that I'm more than just a fantastic body and an optimal sexual performer. I'm a man of substance. Someone who is engaged with the world and is abreast of its complex diversity. Because of this desire I spend a large percentage of my day on the internet website Wikipedia. It's where I go for the facts. I like to research areas of the world I know the least about. Like the country of Suriname, which is, interestingly, a Dutch-speaking country on the South American continent. The main ethnic group (at 37%) are Indians orginally from the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. I like to print out pages from the Wikipedia and read out these facts to my 36 year-old Singapore Airlines hostess over the dinner table. They provide the basis for our stimulating intellectual conversations.
Last night I presented her with my research on the town on Lewiston, in the US state of Maine, where 25.77% of the population are French-speaking. We discussed how these people would no doubt listen to radio from Québec and New Brunswick and would possibly also pick up Canadian television. We noted how as citizens of the world's most dominant culture it was intriguing that these people would not only look to a significantly smaller country for their cultural interests, but to a minority within that country as well.

As we've been freely debating these grand intellectual curiosities I've developed a firm belief that we are bonding on a significantly higher level than we had previously. I feel I'm getting to know both her mind and her soul, and that the exploration that was initially confined to the bedroom has now also become part of our cerebral and emotional interaction.
